Inspired by the dark sands and rocks of Arctic coasts, this piece is symbolic of the precipice between the land and the seas, life, death and the sirens that call to both.
“As for me, I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote. I love to sail forbidden seas, and land on barbarous coasts.”
― Herman Melville, Moby-Dick
Black Coast Rock
Raw - This is the intended finish. It features a chemical patina using sulphur that exposes an exterior layer of dark oxides on the surface of the piece. A light brushing that exposes the silver beneath results in the appearance of dark rock, sprayed with ocean water.
Polished - This finish features considerably less patina on the surface. Deeper areas retain a shadowy recess but the piece is monochrome in appearance and has a more dominantly polished surface, as well as gleaming selective high points.
This piece can also be crafted in various carats of yellow, white or rose gold. If necessary it can also be requested in half-sizes. Please contact us about this or any other questions you may have by submitting a message on our contact page or by emailing contact@viceandvirtue.co.uk
